Many of you may have already heard there is a new version of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) on its way.  What you may not know is how cool it really is.  The new version has many new features, too many to name them all but we’ll give you a couple.

• The ability to use avatars/pictures very cool
• Abundant smiley additions including a beer mug, anyone for a drink.
• Addition of groups.
• Broadcast message to all, group or select contacts via tickbox soo much easier than before.
• Status ‘Show What I’m Listening Too’ or personal message.
• Add BBM contact via Barcode this is so easy and extremely cool
• Addition of status updates

There are many more but I’d be here all night.  I’ve found a few videos on youtube, this one compares the two versions and I found it pretty good. There are plenty of articles available on other Blackberry sites if you are looking for more info do a search in Google.

RIM has now release the official version of BlackBerry Messenger 5, it can be downloaded directly to your device by pointing your BlackBerry browser to http://www.blackberry.com/send/facebook
