Google Sync for BlackBerry

October 27th, 2009

Now this has got to be one of the best pieces of software for a BlackBerry that I have found. Like so many people out there I am using BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) that unfortunately doesn’t sync my contacts or calendar. That is where this software comes in really handy. It will sync both your contacts and calendar, it can be set to automatic or manual sync. I’m currently using automatic and have not noticed any operating speed difference so I thoroughly recommend it.  If you don’t have a Gmail account yet don’t worry it’s free to set one up and you can even import your contacts from Outlook (tutorial here). QuickPull Free v3.5.4

October 27th, 2009

BlackBerry devices are in my humble opinion the best converged device on the market at the moment.  Like your computer they store information in the cache of the phone that builds up and eventually will cause your phone to freeze or similar.  However, the guys at Steelthorn Software have created a program to simulate removing the battery (commonly referred to as a Battery Pull) called QuickPull.  This process frees up the cache and enables the device to perform at it’s peak. Buzz Me – BlackBerry Vibrate & Ring

August 23rd, 2009

BuzzMe Options

Anyone who has used a BlackBerry before will know that one of the fundamental short comings of these devices is that you cannot get them to vibrate and ring consecutively, rather it will vibrate then ring, just vibrate or just ring. This can be quite frustrating.  There are a couple different applications that can fill this gap but one I can personally recommend is BuzzMe by Big Tin Can.

I’ve tried a couple of different applications to fill this void but BuzzMe offers a few little extras.  The first is Call vibration length, as the name suggests you can set it to 1, 5 or 10 seconds or until your device stops ringing.  It has alert during call, Call LED flashing with the ability to change the call alert LED colour.  The LED call alert feature is pretty cool, you can make it flash Blue, Green, Red, Yellow or my favorite Disco.

There are 2 different versions of this application, 1 is for the Storm 95xx and the other is for devices with a keyboard.  To download this application open the appropriate link below with your BlackBerry Browser or copy it into an email to your device.
