Change Your BlackBerry Theme

October 31st, 2009

Changing themes on your BlackBerry is one of the many things you can do to customize your device.  A BB theme changes more than just the wallpaper, there are many different screens on your device that will normally be customized when a new theme is selected such as:

  1. Home Screen
  2. Main Menu
  3. Active Call
  4. Incoming Call

This is a simple tutorial to show you how to change themes rather than the wallpaper.  Now I’m assuming you have downloaded a new theme already.  If you haven’t there are some FREE themes available to download on this website at this link.  I have used the BlackBerry Storm for my images below but the theory is the same for devices such as BlackBerry Bold, Curve etc.

1.  Navigate to the Main Menu Screen and select Options as below.

Main Menu Screen select Options

2.  Scroll to the bottom of the menu until you find Themes and select it as below.

Find Themes and Select it

3.  Highlight the theme you would like to use and Select it by pressing the screen if using the Storm or pressing the trackball if using any other device.

Highlight and Press to Select

Highlight and Press to Select

Your device will now freeze for 30 seconds or so while the changes are applied and your new theme is ready to go.  It is recommended to reset your device by using an application like QuickPull or removing your battery after changing themes.  This will clear the cache and potentially speed up your device.
